  • Harimau Shakti is joint military exercise of Indian and Malaysian armies. This year the exercise is conducted in Hulu Langat forest of Malaysia under harsh and humid conditions.
  • Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra broke his own national record by clearing a distance of 87.45 m. He finished 4th at the Diamond League series.
  • Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton won Spanish Grand Prix.
  • South Korea Women’s Hockey team won the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2018. Indian Women’s Team was runner up.
  • Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2018 title. This is their 3rd IPL title.
  • Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, (HPCL) has launched home-delivery of diesel in Mumbai.
  • ‘HP fuel connect’ will deliver diesel to customers having fixed equipment or heavy machinery in their premises
  • The President of Asian Development Bank is Takehiko Nakao.
  • BSNL has signed a MOU with SAP to jointly offer innovative GST solutions to enterprises across India.
  • National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has sanctioned LED Solar Street Lighting system for Arunachal Pradesh. The project is under NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund with grant of Rs. 83.83 lakh.
  • The Chairman of NABARD is Harsh Kumar Bhanwala. 
  • International Nurses Day (IND) is an international day celebrated around the world on 12 May (the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth) of each year, to mark the contributions nurses make to society. 
  • Pema Khandu is the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation has introduced a Scheme VIKALP under which passengers in wait-list can get berth in another train. However the scheme does not guarantee a confirmed berth.
  • Paytm has announced a program called Paytm Ashakiran. Paytm Ashakiran aims at educating rural women about financial services.
  • Patanjali, Baba Ramdev’s Company has tied up to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to launch Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM Cards. On availing the SIM one can get health, accidental and life insurance cover of Rs. 2.5 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh.
  • General Bipin Rawat, has released the book named ‘Across the Bench- Insight into the Indian Military Judicial system’. The book is written by Lt. General Gyan Bhushan.
  • World’s largest Bird Sculpture ‘Jatayu’ is in Kollam, Kerala. It is 65 feet tall and is situated 1000 feet above sea level.
  • Union Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation had launched the Gobardhan Yojana from Haryana’s Karnal district on 30th April.
  • Government has doubled the investment limit to Rs. 15 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandan Yojana pension scheme. The subscription period is extended by two years till March 31st 2020.
  • Preeti Sudan is the current Chairperson for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Pawan Kumar Agarwal is the current Chief Executive Officer.
  • Shivangi Pathak from Haryana has become youngest Women of India to scale Mt. Everest. 16-year-old Shivangi climbed the Everest to spread the message that women could achieve everything.

  • Kummanam Rajasekharan is the Governor of Mizoram and Ganeshi Lal is the Governor of Odisha.

  • Sudha Balakrishnan was appointed as the first Chief Financial officer of Reserve Bank of India. She is the 12th executive director of RBI and will serve a three-year term.
  • The Union Government signed a 500 Million Dollar loan agreement with the World Bank to provide financing for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Rural Roads Project.
