किसान भाईयो हमारे देश में करेला बहुत जयादा उपयोग होने वाली सब्जियो मे से एक है।भारत मे करेला की खेती सदियो से होती आ रही है । इसका ग्रीष्मकालीन सब्जियों में महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है । करेला अपने पौष्टिक एवं औषधीय गुणों के कारण काफी लोकप्रिय सब्जी है । मधुमेह के रोगियों के लिये करेला की सब्जी का सेवन बहुत लाभदायक है । इसके फलों से सब्जी बनाई जाती है । इसके छोटे-छोटे टुकड़े करके धूप में सुखाकर रख लिया जाता हैं, जिनका बाद में बेमौसम की सब्जी के रूप में भी उपयोग किया जाता है ।

करेला की खेती के लिए ठाम एवं आर्द्र जलवायु की जरूरत पड़ती है । करेला के पौधों की खासियत है कि यह अन्य कद्दू वर्गीय फसलों की अपेक्षा अधिक शीत सहन कर सकता है, पर अधिक वर्षा से फसल की उपज घट जाती है । करेला की खेती के लिए उत्तर एवं मध्य भारत की जलवायु अधिक अनुकूल मानी गयी है ।

बीज बुवाई
बीज की मात्रा:
5-7 किलो ग्राम बीज प्रति हे. पर्याप्त होता है एक स्थान पर से 2-3 बीज 2.5-5. मि. की गहराई पर बोने चाहिए बीज को बोने से पूर्व 24 घंटे तक पानी में भिगो लेना चाहिए इससे अंकुरण जल्दी, अच्छा होता है |बोने का समय
बुवाई का समय :15 फरवरी से 30 फरवरी (ग्रीष्म ऋतु) तथा 15 जुलाई से 30 जुलाई (वर्षा ऋतु)
खाद : 50 टन गोबर की पकी खाद खेत तैयार करते समय डालें। 125 किलोग्राम अमोनियम सल्फेट या किसान खाद, 150 किलोग्राम सुपरफॉस्फेट तथा 50 किलोग्राम म्युरेट आॅफ पोटाश तथा फॉलीडाल चूर्ण 3 प्रतिशत 15 किलोग्राम का मिश्रण 500 ग्राम प्रति गड्ढे की दर से बीज बोने से पूर्व मिला लेते हैं। 125 किलोग्राम अमोनियम सल्फेट या अन्य खाद फूल आने के समय पौधों के पास मिट्टी अच्छी तरह से मिलाते हैं।
सिंचाई एवं निराई-गुड़ाई } फसल की सिंचाई वर्षा पर आधारित है। साधारण प्रति 8-10 दिनों बाद सिंचाई की जाती है। फसल की प्राथमिक अवस्था में निराई-गुड़ाई करके खेत को खरपतवारों से मुक्त करना चाहिए। वर्षा ऋतु में इस फसल को डंडों या मचान पर चढ़ाना अच्छा होता है। फसल की निराई-गुड़ाई करते रहना चाहिए। करेले की फसल ड्रिप सिंचाई पर भी ले सकते है
खाद एवं उर्वरक
करेला की फसल में अच्छी पैदावार लेने के लिए उसमे आर्गनिक खाद, कम्पोस्ट खाद का होना अनिवार्य है इसके लिए एक हे. भूमि में लगभग 40-50 क्विंटल गोबर की अच्छे तरीके से गली, सड़ी हुई खाद 50 किलो ग्राम नीम की खली इनको अच्छी तरह से मिलाकर मिश्रण तैयार कर खेत में बोने से पूर्व इस मिश्रण को खेत में समान मात्रा में बिखेर दें इसके बाद खेत की अच्छे तरीके से जुताई करें खेत तैयार कर बुवाई करें |
और जब फसल 25-30 दिन नीम का काढ़ा को गौमूत्र के साथ मिलाकर अच्छी तरह से मिश्रण तैयार कर छिडकाव करें की हर 15 व 20 दिन के अंतर से छिडकाव करें |
पौध संरक्षण } कीड़े } एफिड, माइटस, रेड पमकिन, बीटिल की रोकथाम के लिए मैलाथियान एक मिली लीटर, सेविन 3 मिली लीटर प्रति लीटर या मैलाथियान या सेविन चूर्ण 5 से 25 किलोग्राम प्रति हेक्टेयर की दर से छिड़काव करना चाहिए। नीमयुक्त कीटनाशक का छिड़काव भी कर सकते हैं।
सावधानी } रासायनिक कीटनाशी दवाएं जहरीली होती हैं। प्रयोग सावधानीपूर्वक करें। फल तोड़ने के 10 से 15 दिन पूर्व दवाओं का प्रयोग बंद कर देना चाहिए।
पैदावार } 130 से 150 क्विंटल प्रति हेक्टेयर तक हो जाती है। बीज उत्पादन के लिए प्रमाणित बीज के लिए 500 मीटर व आधारीय बीज के लिए 1000 मीटर अलगाव दूरी रखें। फल पूरी तरह पकने के बाद निकालकर बीज अलग करें व सुखाकर अपरिपक्व कच्चा बीज अलग करें।
इस प्रकार हम खैती करके अधिक पैसा कमा सकते है।जिससे हमें अधिक मुनाफा मिल सकता है।
