Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) conduct an entrance exam in order to provide admission to candidates in five-year long BS-MS dual degree programme .

Admission Details:

Admissions to IISER 2018 will be through three channels:
  1. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) – Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of valid KVPY fellowship.
  2. State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) channel – Candidates opting for this channel will have to appear in an aptitude test, the details of which are given below.
  3. Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (JEE) channel – Candidates with valid JEE Advanced 2018 scores are eligible for direct admission.

IISER 2018 Important Dates:

Important dates for Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) 2018 differ for KVPY, JEE Advanced and SCB (aptitude test) channel.

IISER 2018 Important Dates for KVPY and JEE channel: 

  • Opening of application portal:- Fourth week of May, 2018.
  • Last date of application:- Last Week of June, 2018.
  • Announcement of First Round of Allotment of Seats Under KVPY and JEE Channel:- Last Week of June, 2018.
  • Deadline for Payment of Fees allotted in the first round:- Second Week of July, 2018.
  • The opening of the application portal for the candidates to exercise the Float option:- Second week of July, 2018.
  • Announcement of second round of allotment of seats under KVPY/JEE stream:- Second Week of July, 2018.
  • Payment of fees by the candidates in the second round of allotment under KVPY/JEE Stream:-Second Week of July to Third Week of July, 2018.
  • The announcement of the third round of allotment of seats under JEE stream:-first Week of August, 2018.

  • Opening of application portal:-Fourth week of May, 2018.

  • IISER SCB Aptitude Test:-Second Week of July, 2018.

ISSER 2018 Application Fee:

  • Candidates have to deposit Rs. 1500 as an application fee.
  • 750 in case of SC/ST category & Kashmiri Migrants
  • Candidates can pay the fee through online or offline mode.
  • The fee is non-refundable.

IISER Exam pattern :

  • The Exam paper comprises of four subjects of equal weightage: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
  • The Duration of the Test wil be 3 hours (10:00 AM to 1:00 PM).
  • The questions will be of Objective type mcq questions.
  • There will be Total 60 questions(15 questions per subject). Each question will hold 3 marks.
  • There will be negative marking in the exam. Candidates will be awarded with 3 marks for each correct answer. 1 mark will be deducted for wrong attempt.

IISER  Admit Card:

Candidates will be able to get the Entrance Test admit card 2018 through online mode from the website. The admit card will be released before one or two weeks from the examination for All Streams.Admit card will contain exam schedule, exam center details, candidate’s roll number, etc.

IISER 2018 Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for IISER application 2018 include:

Nationality:

  • All Indian National, OCI & PIO candidates can apply for this exam.

For SCB Stream:

  • Candidates must have qualified 10+2 examination and for this he/she should has certification in science stream in 2017/2018.
  • Candidates have to get marks at the equal level or above the cut-off percentage within the respective boards.
  • There is only 5% relaxation for qualifying marks when you come in the OBC-NC & PwD category.
  • For SC/ST/KM candidates, in all the boards, the cut-off percentage marks are set as 55%.

For KVPY Stream:

  • If Candidates want to apply for IISER exam then they should have a valid KVPY scholarship beginning from 2018-2019 sessions.

JEE Advanced Stream:

  •  Candidates should have successfully qualified the JEE Advanced exam along with securing the rank within 10000 in Common Rank List.
  •  Relaxation is only applicable for OBC-NC/SC/ST/PwD category if they are having their caste & rank certificates then, it will be considerable.

IISER 2018 Result:

The results for IISER 2018 will be declared via online mode. And results for IISER 2018 can be checked from the 2nd week of July 2018.Once the results are declared, candidates can register themselves for seats’ allotment. And the seat for IISER will be allotted according to merit secured by the individual in the exam.

How to prepare for IISER ? 

  • You can prepare for SCB channel same as you prepare for other competitive exams like JEE or NEET.
  • Syllabus is same as 11th and 12th class.
  • You can refer NCERT for your preparation to clear your concepts and to make your fundamentals strong. Paper is based on your concepts only.
  • You can make your important notes which will help you at the time of revision.
  • You can solve as many as MCQs for your practice and complete mock test series to work on your strength and weakness.
  • A healthy mind will be more productive than the tired one, so a healthy diet and a sound sleep is equally needed.
  • 20 minutes of yoga and medidation can prove to be a great stress-buster.
  • Take breaks. This might sound blasphemous at this crucial juncture, when you are possibly cramming answers even in your sleep. But this is crucial. Your brain anyway is going to reach a saturation point in about two to three hours of constant study. To ensure your brain is able to absorb and process new information, you need to give yourself breaks regularly.
  • Remember, while these exams are a significant and you must strive hard to score well, they don’t determine the success or failure life has in store for you. And to make most of this life’s journey you have to stay healthy forever. So eat well, study well, score well. All the best!!
