NCERT Class 9th Physics Chapter 1 Motion Summary Uniform and non uniform motion

In this post we have explained topics

Uniform motion and non uniform motion

Uniform and non-uniform motion:

The motion is said to uniform if an object covers a fixed distance in fixed interval of time. Suppose if there’s an object which covers 2m in 2sec, then again other 2m in 2sec,then again 2m in 2 sec

Now speed = total distance covered /total time

= 2+2+2/2+2+2

= 1 m/s

Here it shows that it 1m in 1sec then again another 1m in 1sec and so on.

Non uniform motion is motion in which covers unequal distance in equal time intervals.

For example there is an object which covers 1m in 1st 2sec then 4m in another 3sec and so on so the distance covered is not equal for each time interval. So this type of motion is called non uniform motion.

Speed

Different objects take different time to cover same distance. The measurement of the rate of motion is speed. the rate at which an object c the distance is travelled by object per unit time known as speed. The SI unit of speed is meter/seconds.

The speed of object is given by

Speed (v) = distance (s) /time

Lets take an example if a object travels 3km distance in one hours then it’s speed would be

Distance in m = 3000m

Time in seconds= 60*60=3600sec

Now speed will be = 3000/3600

= 0.83 m/ s

= 3 km/ hr

So this is how speed is defined.
