The exercise covers the question regarding distance – time, speed-time and velocity time graph and how different curve give different information about the motion of object and state of object can be predicted from nature of graph
Intext Exercise 3
Que1 :
What is nature of distance – time graph for uniform and non uniform motion of object.
Ans1 : distance time graph for
uniform motion is straight line
The distance – time graph for non uniform motion is curved line
Que2 : what you can say about motion of an object whose distance time graph is straight line and parallel to time axis.
The graph is parallel and straight line it means the position is not changing with time so the object is in rest.
Que3: what you can say about motion of an object whose speed-time graph is parallel to time axis.
The speed – time graph us parallel and straight line which means that speed it’s not changing with respect to time so the object will be moving with same speed and acceleration will be 0.
Que4:what quantity is measured through given speed and time graph
The graph above given above shows the velocity with respect to time
In x axis it is time axis so length at any time will be = t
In y axis its velocity axis so length will be = v
The area under graph will be =
Length of time axis * length of Velocity axis
= v * t
Velocity, v = distance (s) / time (t)
V* t = distance (s)
Area under velocity time curve = distance.
