    Eligibility Criteria:-

    The candidates who want to be recruited as assistant loco pilot or technician, has to qualify the following eligibility criteria-

    1. Age Limit: (as on 01.07.2018)

                Minimum age – 21 years
                Maximum age – 28 years

    2. Age relaxation:

      • SC/ST – 5 years
      • OBC (Non – Creamy Layer) – 3 years
      • Railway Staff (Group C & D)– 10 years
      • PWD (General) – 10 years
      • PWD (SC/ST) – 15 years
      • PWD (OBC) – 13 years
      • Ex-Servicemen – 3 years
      • Widows, Divorced Women – 5 years

     

    3. Education Qualification:

    3.1 Assistant Loco Pilot 
    • Candidates must have done engineering Degree/ Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Armature and Coil Winder / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Fitter / Heat Engine / Instrument Mechanic / Machinist / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Millwright Maintenance Mechanic / Mechanic Radio & TV / Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic / Tractor Mechanic / Turner / Wire-man.ORMatriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades.OR3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering (OR) Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of ITI
    3.2 Technicians:

    Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades

    or

    Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades

     

    How to apply –

    Step 1:- Click on the link
    Step 2:- Fill up the basic details viz. Full Name, Father’s name, Mother’s Name, Date of Birth,State, Mobile number, E-mail Id, Aadhar number etc.
    Step 3:- Complete the Registration process by filling all the details for generating a Registration Id & Password for login and OTPs (One Time Password) for validation. The Registration Id and password will be displayed on the screen. OTPs will be sent to your registered mobile number and E-mail id.
    Step 4:- Retrieve OTPs from mobile number and E-mail and validate to proceed with the filling up of application.
    Step 5:- Click On Apply/Edit option on the screen. Complete the Eligibility Criteria Form and Submit. Make sure all the information is filled correctly. After this you will be directed to the Payment.
    Step 6:-

     Select the Payment Mode

    1)Bank
    1. Net Banking /Credit card/Debit card etc : Select the mode of payment of fees from the options available such as Net Banking Credit Card/Debit Card etc., Enter the details required on the relevant option screen and submit the payment. After a while you will get the payment response as “Success” once bank has received your fees, or else a “Failure” response will be displayed on the screen along with the reason for failure.
    2. Others-Modes of Payment: Select “SBI Branch” from the options. Fill the mobile number and date of birth and click “Confirm” button. Download the generated Challan and pay the fees at your nearest SBI branch.
    2)Post Office
    1. For Payment through Post Office, Select Post Office from the drop down and Click the button to proceed for generating a Challan. Take print of the Challan and pay the fees in the nearest computerized post office.
    Note DD, Postal Order, Money Orders and any other modes of payment will not be accepted.
    Step 7:- After successful payment, complete the remaining application form by filling up additional details and Documents Upload. Click Final Submit. Take printout of application and preserve it.

    Application Fees-

      • General / OBC-Rs 500/-
        SC / ST / PWD-Rs 250/-

     

    Exam Pattern-

    Exam will be conducted online.

    RRB ALP selection will be based on 4 stages as follows:

    1. First stage CBT
    2. Second stage CBT
    3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (only for ALP)
    4. Document Verification

    1. First stage CBT-

    The result of first stage CBT will be used to shortlisting candidate for second stage CBT.

    2. Second stage CBT (part-A)-

    The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the second stage shall be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of ALP and Technician Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in First Stage CBT.

    Second stage CBT (part-B)-
    • Duration: 60 Min

    This part is qualifying in nature and shall have questions from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET).

     

     

    3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP):

    The Computer Based Aptitude Test shall have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi. There shall be no negative marking in Computer Based AT. The ALP merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer Based AT.

    The RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) Paper has total 4 parts of General Awareness, General Science, General Intelligence, and Mathematics. Here, we have mentioned the full syllabus of RRB ALP and Technician 2018 examination.

    1. RRB ALP and Technician Stage First Syllabus
    • RRB ALP Mathematics Syllabus: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
    • RRB ALP General Intelligence and Reasoning Syllabus: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
    • RRB Assistant Loco Pilot General Intelligence Syllabus: Figures and Pictures, Analogies, Space, Visualization, Similarities, Decision Making, Problem-Solving, Arithmetical Number Series, Differences, Arithmetical Reasoning, Analysis, Judgement, Relationship Concepts, Visual memory, Observation, Discrimination, Verbal and Figure Classification.
    • RRB ALP Syllabus for General Science: The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
    • RRN ALP General Awareness Syllabus: current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance, etc.
    2. RRB Technical & ALP Second Stage Syllabus

    • Basic Science and Engineering: The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
    • General Awareness: Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.

     

    Selection Procedure

    The candidates should be eligible for the post and should be matriculated pass. Their documents would be verified for selection. The eligible and interested candidates need to take

    • Written Test and
    • Interview to get selected in RRB ALP 2018.

     

    Admit Card-

    The examination date of written exam will be released at least one month before. All those who are interested are required to stay with the official website for latest updates regarding the date of exam and issuance of admit card.

     

    Salary-

    Pay Scale – Rs. 19,900/- (Level 2 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix) plus allowances as admissible.

     

    Preparation Tips –

    Exams will be conducted in April-may dates of which are not notified yet. That means you have at least3 month  for the preparation. In these 3 months you can cover the course as per your capability.

    You can join any coaching institute for better grooming of the subjects. As it is a technical paper. you have to cover the mathematics and physics part more. Major part of the syllabus are covered with science concepts. You can purchase various guides or solved books from the market which are easily available there. They will help you clearing your concepts and doubts. If you have a science  or engineering background then this paper is under your course and control.

    And for the general knowledge questions, you must keep an eye on daily newspapers for all the current affairs and events regarding sports, politics, culture etc. Or you can buy the latest edition of current affairs books for effective points and easy learning.
