Recruitment 2018
Indian Bank Probationary Officer notification is out and the online application has already begun from the 1st of August, 2018. The Indian Bank has released the recruitment notification for a total of 417 Probationary Officer vacancies, which are then subdivided into the categories.
The last date for submitting the form or for the online application is on 27th of August, 2018. According to the notification, that has been released by the Indian Bank Officials, the expected date for the preliminary examination is the 6th of October, 2018.

What is an Indian Bank Probationary Officer exam?
The very first thing that all the candidates need to know about this recruitment is that this is not a direct recruitment notification. You are not going to hold the post of Probationary Officer right after getting qualifying all the stages of the recruitment process.
The candidates are supposed to qualify all the phases of this recruitment process and then have to undergo a nine months course along with a three months internship. The nine months course will take place at the Indian Bank Manipal School of Banking, in Bangalore and the three months internship will start after the completion of this campus program and will be held at any of the Indian Bank branches.
On successfully completing the whole twelve months course, the candidate will be given a postgraduate diploma degree in Banking and Finance. The course fee is Rs. 3,50,000/- or Rupees Three Lakhs and Fifty Thousand only. The candidate has the options to either pay the whole fees on their own or can take the educational loan from the Indian Bank.

Indian Bank Probationary Officer Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for this exam are the same as before, no changes have been observed. The eligibility criteria involve nationality eligibility, age limit eligibility, and educational qualification eligibility. You have to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. In case you fill the form without checking the eligibility, and then found to be not eligible for the exam, then Indian Bank will disqualify your application.
Indian Bank Probationary Officer Educational Qualification
- Candidates who have passed their graduation from any recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the central government.
Indian Bank Probationary Officer Age Limit
- The age for General category candidates should be in between 20 years to 30 years.
- Age relaxation of 5 years has been given to SC / ST candidates.
- 3 years of age relaxation for OBC candidates.
- Age relaxation of 10 years for PWD (Gen) candidates.
- 15 years of age relaxation for PWD (SC / ST) candidates.
- Age relaxation of 13 years for PWD (OBC) candidates.
- J & K domicile person during the period from 01/ 01/ 1980 to 31/ 12/ 1989 will get age relaxation of 5 years.
Indian Bank Probationary Officer Nationality
- Candidates having a certificate of the citizen of India are eligible.
- Candidates, who are the citizen of either Bhutan or Nepal or Bangladesh, are eligible only when they have a valid certificate stating that they have permanent intention to settle in India.

Indian Bank Probationary Officer Selection Procedure
The Indian Bank Probationary Officer exam 2018 has been divided into 3 stages. First being the online preliminary examination, second is online mains examination and the last being the interview phase.
Indian Bank Probationary Officer Preliminary Examination
The preliminary exam will be a computer-based test and will have a total of 100 questions of 100 marks. Each question will contain 1 mark. There will be three sections Reasoning, Aptitude, and English. Reasoning and Aptitude section will have 35 questions each and the English section will have 30 questions. The total time for the exam is 1 hours.

- There will negative marking in the preliminary examination.
- One-fourth of the marks allotted to the question will be deducted as negative marks.

Indian Bank Probationary Office Mains Examination
The mains exam is a combination of a computer-based objective test and a computer-based descriptive test. The objective exam will have a total of 155 questions for 200 marks. There will be four sections in the exam as – General / Economy and Banking Awareness, English Language, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Reasoning and Computer Aptitude. From these sections, General Awareness will contain 40 questions of 40 marks and has been allotted 35 minutes, the English Language will contain 35 questions of 40 marks and the time allotted is 40 minutes, Aptitude will have 35 questions for 60 marks with 45 minutes of time duration and Reasoning and Computers will have 45 questions for 60 marks with 60 minutes of time. The total time for the exam is 3 hours.

- There will be negative marking in the mains examination as well.
- There is no negative marking in the descriptive test.
- One-fourth of the marks allotted to the question will be deducted as negative marks.

Indian Bank Probationary Officer Descriptive Test
The online descriptive test will have only two questions and there are going to an essay and a letter writing question. Both the questions have to be answered in English only. This computer-based descriptive test is named as Test of English Language. The total marks for this test will be 25 marks only and the time duration is of 30 minutes.
Indian Bank Probationary Officer Interview
The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview are 40% for General and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. The weightage (ratio) of the Main examination and interview will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates will be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination and Interview.
