Reserve Bank of India has released its notification for the RBI Grade – B examination for the year 2018. RBI conducts this exam every year for the recruitment of Grade – B officer level. The RBI offers more compensation and perks in comparison to any other such banks or organizations like SBI or IBPS.

RBI Grade – B Number of Attempts

The number of attempts has been a question for the RBI Grade – B examination from the very first day. So, let me clear all the doubts regarding this issue and tell you candidates that RBI has changed the number of attempts from this year’s examination. Previously it is used to be 4 attempts for the unreserved candidates and now this number has been increased by the RBI to 6.

So, from this year onwards, all the unreserved category candidates will get a total of 6 chances to clear the examination. On the other hand, for all the reserved categories, there has been no limit on the number of attempts. They are allowed to try for this RBI Grade – B examination until they reach the age limit set for their category.

RBI Grade – B Examination Pattern

The examination of RBI Grade B Officers will be conducted in three phases. The first one is the phase – I or preliminary examination, when a candidate clears this examination, he or she will be eligible for the phase – II or mains examination. After qualifying mains examination, you will be called for the last phase or stage, which will be a face to face interview.

A candidate is required to clear all the three phases and then only he or she can get selected in RBI as a Grade B Officer.

RBI Grade – B Preliminary (Phase – I) Examination Pattern

  • All the questions in the phase – I carry 1 mark each.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • The total exam time is 2 hours.
  • There will be no sectional time limit.
  • There will be sectional cut off as well as overall cut off.
  • The marks obtained in the phase – I examination will not be considered in the final selection.
  • This phase – I examination is only qualifying in nature.

  • The candidates are required to attempt all the three papers.
  • All the three papers will get conducted on the same day, though in three different shifts.
  • Paper – I and Paper – III will be bilingual, which means will be in both English and in the Hindi language.
  • There will be a cut off for each paper as well as there will be an overall cut off of all the three papers combined.

  3. Human Resource Development: the concept of HRD, goals of HRD, performance appraisal, potential appraisal and development, feedback and performance counseling, career planning, training and development, rewards, employee welfare.
  4. Motivation, Morale, and Incentives: theories of motivation, how managers motivate, the concept of morale, factors determining morale, the role of incentives in building up morale.
