मर्चेंट नेवी से सम्बन्धित कंपनियों में जलपोत के तीन विभागों नॉटिकल (डेक),इंजीनियरिंग और कैटरिंग के लिए भर्ती की जाती है। इन विभागों की आवश्यकता अनुसार विभिन्न पदों पर भर्ती की जाती है। मर्चेंट नेवी का सम्बन्ध नौसेना से नहीं होता है। मर्चेंट नेवी जल मार्ग परिवहन से जुड़ी जलपोत कंपनियों को कहते हैं। जो जलमार्ग (समुद्र मार्ग) से भारी मशीन, तेल, अनाज आदि के परिवहन का कार्य करती हैं। इन कंपनियों के पास कई जहाज होते है। जिनमें सैकड़ों कर्मचारी कार्यरत होते हैं। इन कंपनियों में जहाज के अन्दर मुख्यतः तीन विभाग होते हैं। जिनमें विभिन्न पदों पर रोजगार के अवसर उपलब्ध होते हैं। आइये जाने मर्चेंट नेवी के इन विभागों में करियर के विकल्प की जानकारी।
नॉटिकल विभाग :
इस विभाग को डेक डिपार्टमेंट भी कहते हैं। इस विभाग का कार्य रेडियो कम्युनिकेशन के जरिये जलपोत के सुरक्षित परिवहन को सुनिश्चित करना होता है। इसके अतिरिक्त जहाज में माल (कार्गो) लोडिंग -अनलोडिंग और यात्रियों की सुविधा का ध्यान रखना होता है। इस विभाग में करियर के निम्न विकल्प हैं –
- कैडेट
- थर्ड ऑफिसर
- सेकंड ऑफिसर
- चीफ ऑफिसर आदि पदों पर नियुक्ति होती है
कैटरिंग विभाग :
इस विभाग का कार्य यात्रिओं के खाने – पीने, कपड़ों की लौंड्री सेवा एवं आराम से सम्बंधित होता है। इस विभाग में नौकरी पाने के लिए कैटरिंग एवं हॉस्पिटैलिटी की डिग्री या अनुभव आवश्यक होती है।
इंजीनियरिंग विभाग :
इस विभाग का कार्य जहाज के सभी तकनिकी यूनिट्स की देखभाल एवं मेन्टेनेन्स का होता है। इस विभाग में टेक्नीशियन और इंजिनियर के पदों पर भर्ती होती है। इस विभग में अनेक पोस्ट होते हैं। जैसे –
- जूनियर इंजिनियर
- फोर्थ इंजिनियर
- थर्ड इंजिनियर
- सेकंड इंजिनियर
- चीफ इंजिनियर
- 10 वीं कक्षा के बाद 1-2 वर्ष का डिप्लोमा डिग्री कोर्स जैसे – प्री -सी ट्रेनिंग फॉर पर्सनल, डेक रेटिंग, इंजन रेटिंग, सैलून रेटिंग में कर सकते है।
- 12 वी के बाद नॉटिकल साइंस, मरीन इंजीनियरिंग, ग्रेजुएट मैकेनिकल इंजीनियरिंग का कोर्स कर सकते हैं।
- अब कुछ संस्थानों में पोर्ट एंड शिपिंग मैनेजमेंट, मैरीटाइम इकोनॉमिक्स एंड ऑपरेशंस और ट्रांसपोर्ट और लॉजिस्टिक कोर्स भी उपलब्ध है। इन कोर्स में पीजी डिप्लोमा, ग्रेजुएट, पोस्ट ग्रेजुएट करने पर भी इस फील्ड में करियर बनाया जा सकता है।
- 12 वीं कक्षा विज्ञान विषयों के साथ गणित से पास होना आवश्यक है।
- इस क्षेत्र में करियर बनाने के लिए आयु सीमा 16 से 25 वर्ष के बीच होना चाहिए।
